Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya
The place where the Buddha attained enlightenment, marked by a descendant of the original Bodhi tree and monasteries built by every Buddhist nation.
History & Background
The current temple dates largely to the 5th–6th century Gupta period, on a site marked by Emperor Ashoka around 250 BCE. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
